Objectives
- Precise control over the growth of individual NiO thin films for electrochromic application and thermochromic VO2-based films using both physical (Pulsed Laser Deposition) and chemical (Metalorganic Aerosol Deposition) techniques. We will use these techniques to tailor the properties of the films for chromic applications that require dynamic changes in optical properties;
- Implementation of a plasma diagnostics technique to understand and control the physical deposition process of oxide films;
- Using a co-assembly approach, we investigate the integration of thermo- and electrochromic materials that can modulate the visible and near-infrared spectra. We will characterize the structure and optical properties of these materials by various characterization techniques.
